Feb 4, 2021 at 2:21 comment added Paramanand Singh Believe it or not the existing editor with preview works so nicely in mobile (i use Firefox on android). Almost 80 percent of my contribution on math.se is from mobile (ie from last 5 years or so even before they launched responsive design).
Feb 1, 2021 at 14:01 comment added Noah Snyder It would be really helpful to me if the devs said something about why they’re so opposed to markdown mode having a preview. I assume there’s some reason behind it, but I haven’t seen it explained anywhere (maybe I missed it?). OP just says it’s embarrassingly old-fashioned and lists a bunch of software I don’t use or hate and says they don’t do it. My main experience with this paradigm is Canvas and it’s an awful mess that I hate and can never get to behave the way I want it to.
Jan 28, 2021 at 8:28 comment added Tinkeringbell Mod @RyanM I don't need to select text on mobile with the new editor :) I can just press the B or I icon and start typing, and whatever I type will show up in italics or bold. It's the one thing I actually like about the Rich Text editor on mobile: No more switching keyboards with long button presses, and no more selecting text.

Jan 27, 2021 at 18:47 comment added KRyan Just as a comment, I do routinely use Markdown in mobile. I’d give rich text a shot in that context, but honestly I doubt that I would prefer it even in that situation.
