    I agree with this, to me reading "mark all read" implies doing something with the read items rather than marking all items as read Commented Nov 29, 2022 at 18:09

    yup, indeed, @WhatsThePoint. Since in "mark all read" the last word is an adjective, first of all, it implies a noun should follow it (for example, "items"), and that implies an action should follow it (for example, "for deletion" / "as unread"). A correct phrase the current wording would look something like this: "mark all read items as unread", a shortcut for which is precisely the proposed wording: "mark all as unread" :) Commented Nov 29, 2022 at 18:46
