Seems to me the people coming here are going to be weighted on having interest in this feature. How is SE going to account for statistical self-selection bias? You need to be a pretty savvy user to know stackexchange meta, not <your site's> meta is where you can expect feedback and dialog about the framework's UI. I don't mind this feature at all, as long as it is not the option I am forced to use. If I can toggle a setting that says, "do as before", I am happy. | |
| Nov 30, 2022 at 21:15 | comment | added | Marijn | It would be nice if there were some statistics (ideally from before the change) how often people actually open the inbox but not click on (all) the unread items. I suspect most people do actually click on the inbox items. For myself many comments I get are >100 characters and therefore cut off in the inbox, so even if I only want to read the comment and do nothing with it I need to click on the item. For short items I usually also click because I'm interested in what happens with a followed question or I want to reply to or upvote someone's comment. | |
| Nov 30, 2022 at 20:29 | comment | added | Joe | @YaakovEllis Understood, but I usually don't click on it. When I say read I mean I use the inbox as my content - so many of my comments are trivial things that I can dismiss and ignore. Open the inbox, glance, close inbox is my workflow. | |
