| Jul 12, 2024 at 13:39 | comment | added | KyleMit StaffMod | We've expanded the 2MiB cap, and now allow uploads up to 10 Mib | |

| Dec 3, 2023 at 12:04 | comment | added | Joachim | Image upload size or image hosting size? For most purposes 2 MB (or MiB) is good enough, if users know how to crop their images to whatever is relevant. | |
| Dec 1, 2023 at 19:54 | comment | added | Kyle Pollard StaffMod | @TylerH Yeah, much appreciated 😁 I worked at a gig that blocked domains like that sometimes, I'm very familiar with that pain 🙃 | |
| Dec 1, 2023 at 19:48 | comment | added | TylerH | @KylePollard I agree w/ you on no good solutions--just wanted to make sure y'all were aware that that domain does sometimes get blocked. And yes, when it does get blocked, SO/SE starts to look very weird very quickly :-) | |
| Dec 1, 2023 at 19:45 | comment | added | Kyle Pollard StaffMod | @TylerH I hear the feedback that it'll sometimes get blocked, but I don't think there's a great solution to avoid this. We prefer to keep the sstatic.net domain separate so it's easier to cache and isn't sending any cookies there. | |
| Nov 29, 2023 at 19:31 | comment | added | TylerH | @KylePollard I can point out that some orgs (including my own) block sstatic.net at times, or more specifically use automated tools/services that update block lists based on changing reports over time. See meta.stackexchange.com/questions/287602/… or meta.stackexchange.com/questions/110690/… for examples of others reporting on this actually happening in the past. | |
| Nov 29, 2023 at 19:29 | comment | added | TylerH | "Networks where Imgur is blocked" This can be mitigated when there is a legitimate need by whitelisting the *stack.imgur.com subdomain or more specifically the i.stack.imgur.com sub-subdomain where imgur.com still remains blocked. +1 for the rest of it though. | |

| Nov 28, 2023 at 21:01 | comment | added | Kyle Pollard StaffMod | Hoping to host this on a subdomain of sstatic.net, so that shouldn't get blocked unless your network is blocking all the static resources we host. Good point on the resizer stripping transparency, I'll see what I can do on the new service. It's too early to say what the file size limit will be but I'll acknowledge that 2MiB is too small and would be painful to keep. | |
