- 9I guess this would be the appropriate thing to do, especially if the question is a little older. But I often stumble across question that I know the answer to and would like to answer myself, but then I've got a heavy heart doing so if the question is already answered in the comments. Quite often these answers are from people with thousands of points of rep, so they probably should know where to put an answer. It's almost as if they want to give a short and simple answer and don't want to spend time on a (sometimes) more complete real answer, so they just post their thoughts in a comment.GolezTrol– GolezTrol2013-08-01 14:49:23 +00:00Commented Aug 1, 2013 at 14:49
- 2As someone who has already given similar comments, I can tell you that I wouldn't care if someone else fleshed out what I hinted at, and reaped the reward. If I were in it for the points, I would have fleshed it out myself. But obviously, I was not in it for the points, but just to give a quick pointer in the right direction (probably just making a wild guess that turns out to have been correct). Most likely, I didn't have the time to flesh it out myself, so whoever puts in the effort to do so is welcome to have the points. Of course, I'll generally oblige to a request to make it an answer...cmaster - reinstate monica– cmaster - reinstate monica2014-04-10 20:44:02 +00:00Commented Apr 10, 2014 at 20:44

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. stack-overflow), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
