  • This is a good and thoughtful answer . One point to add is that if you look at old stackoverflow questions, there were a lot of subjective / not programming related questions there originally and the community figured out over time what was allowed and what wasn't. Now questions on SO are closed quickly by the community, when they are off-topic but it took a while to figure out what "off-topic" meant. Programmers.se will find its voice, people just need to be patient. As long as the most active participants ask, answer and vote on questions that are good, the noise will disappear over time.
