Now I get where all the persistent references to a non-existent community come from - there really was one back in the day and it sounds like it was amazing! But that's all from before I joined unfortunately. Still, it is quite telling you had those experiences in the chat rooms. It's easier to be a community when you can actually have a conversation. | |
| Feb 26 at 18:49 | comment | added | zcoop98 | I think you nailed it with the note on "community first"... there've been many ebbs and flows in the dynamic between Meta & company since '19, but it feels like they've fully shifted at this point from a view that "Meta is full of stakeholders invested in seeing the site succeed", to "Meta is a focus group we can poll when convenient", with the primary difference being that there's a level of accountability to the former group, but not the latter. The days of any project being actually halted or even changing major course because of critiques from Meta feels... quite optimistic, these days. | |

Things like pitching "Teams" as the next big thing rather than a peripheral feature nobody really cares about. He managed to sell it and quite overpriced too - good for him. But that was indeed when things started to go bad. | |
