Currently, book-request questions more or less have a blanket ban on this site. I'm seeing if this can be changed, to allow for a relaxed book policy that permits book requests with some constraints.

If there is consensus on this, we can convert this to a meta-faq post, and the policy becomes official¹

Please vote on the answers according to whether or not you wish that answer to be the policy for books.
