  • $\begingroup$ I beg to differ. According to your logic, EVERY SINGLE star in the universe should be visible, its actual brightness unaffected by distance. In other words, the stars in remote galaxies should be just as visible to the naked eye as Rigel, and some of them should be even brighter than Rigel, with a bit of red tint added to the view for style. $\endgroup$ Commented Jan 7, 2016 at 0:49
