I even have some doubts about that :) In my experience, no single entity (person or otherwise) can list all the parts of a very large system. In many cases, buried in the bowls of some server is a long forgotten piece of Perl, Fortran or KSH script that performs 'Magic' . | |

My understanding is that for most functions, the PHP is mostly just used as a relatively simple client onto a more complex server system that is typically implemented in a more traditional "heavyweight" language, such as Java, C++, Haskell, OCaML, etc. | |
