Based on my previous questions I've built up a pretty good understanding of good companies and bad companies, good practices and bad, etc etc. I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with my current employer.
Today, it came to a peak. My manager told me that I must work over time to make up for a lack of planning and project management. Instead of incentivizing this unpaid mandatory overtime, my manager has made it clear I have no choice in the matter.
Is this a sign of an ignorant manager or just a disrespectful one? Is there any hope at all at a company like this? I don't plan on staying, but I'd just like to know. I don't want to ever repeat a mistake like this when I'm in a management position.
As a side question, what are good ways to get an employee to work overtime if you can't directly pay them?
