$\begingroup$ This is exactly the answer I was looking for. I used to do a lot of these type of puzzles on a puzzle competition team. It's an acquirable skill and can be extended indefinitely (1 day long puzzles like this in extreme skill competitions, etc.) Apparently this isn't a real puzzle though based on the negative vote so go figure. $\endgroup$
