    Would you mind adding the exact aptitude command that you would use to remove the X packages? Commented Mar 5, 2013 at 6:39
  • i just ran the aptitude TUI (text user interface), so sudo aptitude, then, using the arrow keys, scrolled to the x11 section and removed each package with the - key Commented Mar 5, 2013 at 19:34
