- Do you mean UUHECNET when talking about the retro UUCP project? At least the web site is still online, and there are comments from 2017...dirkt– dirkt2018-03-18 18:23:12 +00:00Commented Mar 18, 2018 at 18:23
- @dirkt I do indeed and I was having trouble finding it again. I'll have a look at that.Jim MacKenzie– Jim MacKenzie2018-03-18 21:14:15 +00:00Commented Mar 18, 2018 at 21:14
- UUCP makes some sense in some "unusual" circumstances e.g. huge transfers over link with "per (mega) byte" tariff and cheaper overnight rates, ships capable to use costly "deep sea" links, cheap near cost mobile links and WIFi in ports, … . AFAIK the niche is shrinking.user8656– user86562018-05-09 11:47:05 +00:00Commented May 9, 2018 at 11:47
- @AnFi I think it's still used for email links where there is no Internet. It's done using flash drives. It's almost like postal delivery of electronic mail... slow, but it works.Jim MacKenzie– Jim MacKenzie2018-05-09 15:36:08 +00:00Commented May 9, 2018 at 15:36
- @JimMacKenzie Is it offered commercially?user8656– user86562018-05-09 18:58:50 +00:00Commented May 9, 2018 at 18:58

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. ms-dos), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
