\$\begingroup\$ +1 for "make it up to match player expectations". Kind of like how iTunes made its Shuffle less random so that it would feel more random. I'd give you another +1 for going on to answer the questions as asked, if I could. \$\endgroup\$

\$\begingroup\$ FWIW, here's a tweaked (improved?) version of the AnyDice test script that shows the actual dice rolled for each approximation. I might edit it into the answer later when I have some more time, but for now I'll just leave the link here. \$\endgroup\$
