- \$\begingroup\$ Is the DM enhancing the feature or the player that selects it? It seems the DM says the UA or Tasha's can be used and then the player picks which enhancements/replacements they want. And that is specific to each player. There might be two players at a table with the same class and running different builds. The alternative is that player 1 chose enhancements so now player 2 has to play with them. \$\endgroup\$kent– kent2020-08-30 00:39:10 +00:00Commented Aug 30, 2020 at 0:39
- \$\begingroup\$ @kent: As it says: "The DM decides which of these options are available to the characters in a campaign." Once the DM decides "these options are available", the player just kinda gets those benefits (assuming they want them); the vast majority of UA:CFV is enhancements rather than replacements, so for the most part all the player has to decide is "do I want this free improvement to the feature I already get?". For the few cases where there's an actual choice (i.e. replacements, like for the ranger) - well, obviously, once the DM okays it, it's up to the player to choose which option they want. \$\endgroup\$V2Blast– V2Blast ♦2020-08-30 01:28:54 +00:00Commented Aug 30, 2020 at 1:28
- \$\begingroup\$ Unrelated but not sure where to ask this and you are also a mod. What happened to the other answer? Did the user delete it themselves? \$\endgroup\$kent– kent2020-08-30 06:00:00 +00:00Commented Aug 30, 2020 at 6:00

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- Make sure you include the system tag for the game system you are asking about (if appropriate and if the tag exists).
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. dnd-5e-2014), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
