| Jul 19, 2015 at 22:31 | comment | added | Justin W | Update 2: I playtested another set of rules, modified from a post I found by 2Cuil4School on Reddit The playtest went much better than before! I'm still working out details, but I'm excited at its potential. Zones need more work. I did steal some of Diaspora's heat stress track, so it wasn't a total loss. The original post was also influenced by Diaspora as well as Bulldogs! Overall I think Fate Core isn't bad for starship combat but if combat is the focus, it could be a little crunchier. | |
| Apr 27, 2015 at 20:48 | comment | added | Justin W | Update: My players weren't thrilled with the Diaspora single-axis abstraction. I think that works better for combat with capital ships and players interested in semi-serious simulation, rather than players who want something more like Star Wars. | |

| Mar 27, 2014 at 0:56 | comment | added | Justin W | Someone asked before if I'd looked at Diaspora, but the comment seems to have been deleted. I've since looked at the rule set, and it seems to address some of my issues, but certainly not everything. It didn't do much in the way of differentiating ships mechanically, and there didn't seem to be much, if any, interplay between the skills of the characters operating the ship, and the skills of the ship itself. Still I think it's a fantastic step in the right direction, I wish said commenter would have presented it as an answer so I could upvote it. | |
