Giving Up The Ghost

Waiting for word about my book:

Is it a yes or is it no?

Have you even had a chance to look?

Do the sentences sing? The story cook?

Will the dialogue do? The project go?

Waiting for word about my book,

I can’t forget the time it took

to craft each syllable just so.

Have you even had a chance to look?

Am I deluded? A dope? A schnook?

My doubts take root and then they grow,

waiting for word about my book.

Half way through, you’ll find the hook.

I kid you not! I’m a prose pro!
