It suggestsUPDATE: This error occurred because I just needwas trying to request patch versioning onmake the 1GP packaging and namespace org. I will postfirst version of my results if this works then mark Phil W's answer a correctsecond-generation managed package 2.

As an aside, the only1.0.NEXT instead of 1.0.0.NEXT. The reason the 1GPI chose that version was created at all is because Connected Apps cannot be created in a 2GP; they depend on ato create continuity with my 1GP. Patch versioning was not needed. The error message from it was erroneous (and unhelpful).

UPDATE: After recommendations from @Phil W below, the error is now...

It suggests I just need to request patch versioning on the 1GP packaging and namespace org. I will post my results if this works then mark Phil W's answer a correct.

As an aside, the only reason the 1GP was created at all is because Connected Apps cannot be created in a 2GP; they depend on a 1GP.
