There is however a security sub question about the "reach a state of confidence where I can bring my work laptop home." Sadly the answer to that is: You shouldn't. There's other information on your work laptop you don't people getting access to, so if you do you need to keep it completely isolated. | |

Zoz did a presentation at this past DEFCON where he used several different methods of attempting drive destruction, the VOD of the talk (with all the awesome destruction pr0n): youtube.com/watch?v=-bpX8YvNg6Y Amusingly enough, they found that using a nail gun on a spinning HDD was far more effective than even some explosives. | |
