- 1I think you misunderstood how anti-virus software uses a sandbox and what you described is not a sandbox but a security vulnerability...billc.cn– billc.cn2016-07-05 15:21:01 +00:00Commented Jul 5, 2016 at 15:21
- @billc.cn I didn't misunderstand anything. I explained what the concept of a sandbox is used for. (See a more popular one here cuckoosandbox.org). AV handles sandboxing however they handle it, but AV is not a Sandbox. It (AV) may contain sandboxing capabilities, but it is best to understand the differences between the twomunkeyoto– munkeyoto2016-07-05 15:46:34 +00:00Commented Jul 5, 2016 at 15:46
- Can you tell me more about "isolated environment" ? Is it a virtual machine? How does the sandbox prevent windows to execute the malicious .exe in his environment?Duke Nukem– Duke Nukem2016-07-06 18:05:26 +00:00Commented Jul 6, 2016 at 18:05
- 1@DukeNukem again it depends on what your AV developed. They're all different. In the CUCKOO sandbox, things are executed in its own environment (operating system)munkeyoto– munkeyoto2016-07-06 18:42:41 +00:00Commented Jul 6, 2016 at 18:42
- 1@DukeNukem it doesn't prevent Windows from executing anything. It executes it on purpose to provide you with a report of what it did when it was runningmunkeyoto– munkeyoto2016-07-06 22:02:38 +00:00Commented Jul 6, 2016 at 22:02

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. web-application), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
