    The answer is pretty short, because you should never store a password plaintext. Not even on a file called TotallyNotMyPasswords.txt. Nowhere. Commented Aug 15, 2018 at 14:31

    @DaveCarruthers There are setups in which this is possible (for instance with windows and AD authentication) other then that, passwords can be saved in protected configuration Commented Aug 16, 2018 at 6:49
