- I am not receiving any payment information, maybe the attacker has abandoned the account. However, every now and then, i notice that i receive some Paypal news. Really rare, like once every two months, haven't even noticed that before. I also suppose that you have to verify your email address before Paypal accepts it. Therefore, i think it's highly unlikely that someone just typed his email wrong. I actually don't have any money theft(impossible since it's just a new Paypal account that the attacker owns). Impersonation was my main concern though, as you say.johnakon– johnakon2011-08-11 13:57:49 +00:00Commented Aug 11, 2011 at 13:57
- The first thing i was thinking is that maybe i have created this account in the past. However, i seriously don't remember having any other Paypal account except from the one i have for many years now. I'm quite certain i haven't created this account. Moreover, there is a credit card associated with it that ends with a number i am not aware of(i saw it on password reset questions). Really really weird situation.johnakon– johnakon2011-08-11 14:01:17 +00:00Commented Aug 11, 2011 at 14:01
- 2You may want to check your email filter settings in Gmail - they can be set in a way that they'd automatically delete any payment-related emails from PayPal.MicE– MicE2011-08-14 11:57:54 +00:00Commented Aug 14, 2011 at 11:57

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. web-application), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
