This former city girl has left the bay and returned to her roots. I'm living the country life, driving a Chevy truck, and learning to navigate back roads in the cuts. Yes, "the cuts" (aka farmhouses and unmarked roads surrounded by dairies and almond orchards.) So far I'm adjusting well, making friends (mostly boys from school), I've been to all the good dive bars, and I can probably play Rock Band better than you. *grin*
I went back to school, and I am the only girl in the Automotive Technology program. In a year I'll be a certified grease monkey. :) Next up: project car!
I want to start a blog to share my feelings and experiences as a woman going through the auto program and entering the field. I've been trying to think of a good catchy title with no success, so if any of you have any clever ideas I'll give you a cookie. ;)

So I've decided that I would really like to try to get out of the retail biz. Ideally I would like to find some sort of Customer Service Rep, receptionist, or general office type job. I really need to get back to school it isn't possible with my current job.
I am wondering if I should start with temp agency to build up my experience and skills? And if so, are there any you would recommend, have had experience with, etc? I'm basically looking for information on how to get started. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. I know I've been missing in action lately, but I've been working a lot and the my current lack of a car has me pretty much stuck at home on nights and weekends. But hopefully that situation will rectify itself soon. | |

Burning Man was blast! Best year yet for me. I look forward to next year and the possible art project that may be ready. *hopes* If we can pull it off it will be amazingly cool. Details to follow...
Camping trip at Pine Crest was also a blast! So much fun on the party boat and late raids for fire wood. Thank you to all for the wonderful time!
New things:
I am taking a sewing class at the adult school. I'm okay at machine sewing but it pretty much takes me forever with lots of frustration and mistakes. This class is teaching me so much already! I'll be sewing with ease soon enough.
I am also finally putting together my zine. The first and second issue are all planned out and I've started the layout and writing for Issue 1. I will post it here when it is finished and ready for shipping/gifting.
I also finally bought a Playstation 2. And I have Fatal Frame 1 and 2 and Kingdom Hearts on the way. Hey, I need a way of entertaining myself when not writing or going to school. It's not like this town is hotbed of things to do. I miss Berkeley. *sad face* At least I am enjoying the valley heat, being the lizard like creature that I am. *mmmm...toast* | |
| no sleep 'till black rock... | [29 Aug 2006|07:23am] | Why is it I always start off my adventure to the playa with not enough sleep? I know I won't get much once I'm there with the art cars, the bad techno, and the hippie drum circles; but I still find myself in bed too late and up too early in the days preceding the event. Last night when I finally fell asleep around 2am I was drifting off thinking I'll be on the playa this time tomorrow.
I swear I'm like a kid about to go to Disneyland, and too excited to sleep.

I will be attending a private christian liberal arts college for their accelerated degree program so that I will finish my degree and teaching certifications in a much shorter amount of time. Miss Deviant will be a wolf amongst the sheep. *amused*
I will be leaving the lovely bay area at the end of August.
Yes, I am still going to Burning Man.
Yes, I will be back once I am finished in 13-16 months.
Until then I will miss you all and the wild, weird, bay area lifestyle that I love!
I will visit when I can.
I have some very good friends waiting for me in Fresno so I know I'll survive my year in hell.
