Totally agree, wiping the cache is inefficient, stopping is a last and costly resort. My main reason for stopping is "last train syndrome".

While task switching is bad for your work, one must weigh it against your brain gradually shutting down during the evening and nothing useful gets done. If you want to work late, at least take some serious breaks (which includes food).
