- It is indeed rooted in personal disbelief, which is why I asked for whether there was a justification for picking the order that was picked (hence providing justification to the argument), or if that alignment didn't matter in the first place at the time (hence dispelling the possible argument). Do you mean to say that there's no real answer and that it's just so? If that's the case, maybe editing the answer a bit to clarify would make it a good answer for the questionpetroleus– petroleus2025-03-03 00:27:52 +00:00Commented Mar 3 at 0:27
- I did exactly describe why that belief may be relevant for general purpose CPU registers + integer ALUs, and is not relevant for FPUs. Is the issue that you didn't understand the answer, or that you don't understand the difference between an integer ALU and the original floating-point co-processors, or what?Useless– Useless2025-03-03 21:30:21 +00:00Commented Mar 3 at 21:30

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. design-patterns), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
