I'm starting a bookkeeping/accounting service office. But I can't afford commercial software yet. What free/open-source alternatives do I have?

  1. It must run on Windows
  2. could handle about 25 separate companies
  3. must be free, no charges whatsoever
  4. have good community support
  5. can handle inventory, manufacturing, and multiple currencies

You should explore GNUCash from https://www.gnucash.org/index.phtml

It supports Windows.

According to its documentation:

You can open separate instances of GnuCash, each with its own data file

So you basically can have one data file for each customer, and open the required file individually
