Hello,
I am having trouble installing surfit-2.1 on my Windows XP SP2 machine.
No matter what I try, I get the following error message when I start the installer:

Installer can't find Tcl8.3 library! Installation will be aborted. Do you want to automatically download Active Tcl8.3.5 (about 7mb)? Press NO to download manually, CANCEL to abort installation

Neither ActiveTcl8.3 nor ActiveTcl8.5 (the latest from the ActiveState web site) will work.
In both cases, I tried shutting down and restarting my machine after installing Tcl, but no luck.
Is there anything I can do with environment variables to make the surfit installer find the Tcl installation?

Install Tcl separately. Make sure the environment variables are added correctly
-> check from dos prompt if tclsh.exe works from any directory
install surfit / ignore the tcl installation step
I've installed Tcl separately and I still get the same trouble, when I checked the tclsh.exe command I found that the executable has the form of tclshxx.exe where the xx is the version (86 in my case), obviously tclsh86.exe runs perfectly from any directory so the environment variables are correct. How do I proceed from here?
By the way, when trying to install Surfit in Linux the installation stops on a message about not being able to find tcl, some kind of trouble I guess.
Please help me out to get surftit up and running and the reference index for the original paper will have buster, promise.

Не инсталлируется на Windows 7. Вернее, инсталлируется нормально, но в списке инсталляций не появляется. При запуске появлется ДОС экран, на котором прописано что то типа "Распаковка..., в последней строке знак процента и ... зависание.
Зря автор завязался с TCL, возможно. Кривая эта штука. Писал бы на чистых языках.
Хорошо, хоть с помощью uninstall встроенного удалось удалить так же бесшумно, как и недоустановить.
