  • I've developed several applications backed by SQLServer 2005/2008 and date/time queries/columns work fine. It will be helpful to include the ddl you used to create the table (for the column type of insertedDatetime). Commented Sep 6, 2012 at 14:35
  • The hanging/never returning sounds suspect to me. Can you run a Sql Server trace and see what it is doing? msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175047.aspx Also, can you confirm that you are using a datetime column with insertDate and not a TIMESTAMP? Commented Sep 9, 2012 at 13:09
