- So it appears from what you're saying, and from looking at the tables in PhpMyAdmin a bit, that the cascade=CascadeType.ALL in the column annotation doesn't result in cascading updates being set on the actual tables. Do you know if there's a way to add cascading updates to the tables themselves through JPA, or would I be best served by adding them myself when it's required? Thanks for your input. I believe I have a better understanding of what's happening now.Donny– Donny2010-07-22 21:23:09 +00:00Commented Jul 22, 2010 at 21:23
- JPA doesn't create tables for you. There may be tools that can auto-generate table definitions based on your JPA annotations/hibernate mappings, but it isn't as if using JPA means the table creation is handled for you. "Cascade" in terms of JPA means something different.matt b– matt b2010-07-23 01:45:56 +00:00Commented Jul 23, 2010 at 1:45

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. python-3.x), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
