Thanks for the answer but yeah this seems so ugly and hacky, there should be a better way, I opened a feature request, lets see if it happens.

create code fences with backticks ` or tildes ~

for linebreak add 2 spaces at end

backtick escapes `like _so_`
quote by placing > at start of line
