$\begingroup$ Thank you for the tips. I had initially ruled out brms for some reason but your comment prompted me to investigate a bit further and I'm experimenting with some initial test fits. So far it looks promising, and I'll be sure to diagnose the model with DHARMa. $\endgroup$
