I used tex.stackexchange.com/a/57641/5049 as an inspiration for the example. xtemplate is overkill for this so it is not a real world use case :)

@cgnieder, I’d expect any tutorial example to be at the edge of “is this tool overkill for this case?” xfrac might have served, but it’s written as an example for people who already understand the template concept. I look forward to reading your article.
