May 14, 2015 at 21:16 comment added barbara beeton the spaces around the first and second signs of relation are much larger than the spaces around those signs at the end of the last line. also, the + before +135^{\circ} should be a unary plus, not binary (that can be fixed by wrapping that plus in braces: {+}). getting uniform spacing is the reason for using an align approach, or adjusting the inter-column spacing with array or tabular.
