@DavidCarlisle I understand but surely your answer is more useful. I'm just posting the final version for future reference. Maybe it will be more helpful if I mention it under the question.

create code fences with backticks ` or tildes ~

put returns between paragraphs
for linebreak add 2 spaces at end

backtick escapes `like _so_`
quote by placing > at start of line
to make links (use https whenever possible)
