- "Elsevier publishes 250,000 articles a year in 2,000 journals" and "In 2003 its publishing accounted for 25% of the world market in science, technology, and medical publishing". That's a huge influence.See here too.DJP– DJP2012-12-09 16:15:53 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2012 at 16:15
- I am not disputing that. But different subject areas, have different conventions and Elsevier follows that to some extent. E.g. the journal Differential Geometry and its Applications does not force upright i's on authors as that is not the convention in pure mathematics (see e.g. vol 26(5) page 563 near the top).Andrew Swann– Andrew Swann2012-12-09 18:00:55 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2012 at 18:00

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. tikz-pgf), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
