Little things.......

I love the gentle sound of water in a garden. In a perfect world I'd like enough space to have one of those beautiful glass globes with water flowing over it. This one cost £1,900....

However, at a much lower cost, (£9.99) I am now the proud owner of a little solar fountain. The water makes a delightful bubbling sound and apart from sunshine it needs little upkeep. I laughed the other day when a blackbird decided to try it out for a drink. The fountain was low as there wasn't any sun, but suddenly shot up a little burst. The blackbird was not amused and flapped crossly out of the way.

With a few flower heads floating in the water it looks and sounds quite pretty.

My renovated 'shed'

Months ago, I told you about transforming my garden shed, making it into a little studio where I could sew and paint. There has been something of a hiatus due to more important things in life, but at last it is finished and very usable. Insulated and lined, painted and with new flooring, it's really a little playhouse!

My sewing machine is in situ, together with units containing far too much fabric.

I have had shelves put up for all those little things, boxes of pins, jars of buttons etc. There's a long table for all the other bits and pieces, or for cutting out.
There is electricity, and I am only a step or two from the house. Just outside there is a friendly Clematis which has drifted from the apple tree to a Bay tree.

It's an ideal place for a tea party , said a little friend of mine!

White stocks, creamy Phlox, pink Thrift, blue Cornflower, mauve Rosanne geranium, Blue Clematis and of course, Alchemilla Mollis frothing beautifully.

Happy July!

A time away.

Home again after a few days away in Tavistock, a small market town in Devon. It's somewhere I love to return to with its interesting a...
