  • @klapaucius I tried a new user, but that one has the same effect. Since there are no other answers, seems like I'll have to go the reinstall route. :-( I have no idea how to approach this otherwise. Commented Sep 6, 2011 at 17:59

  • did you try by doing alt + f2 and the typping gnome-terminal? that should be faster than using an icon. Commented Jul 31, 2012 at 11:16
