Nov 29, 2013 at 13:56 comment added user The Morris worm wasn't a virus, however. A virus must attach to some other piece of software, whereas the software Robert Morris wrote was in that sense independent. It was self-replicating but also self-sustaining, and thus a worm rather than a virus.
