    MultiseatX gives you independent displays, but there's no easy way of switching input devices between them and I'm not sure if it's possible to mix X and console. What if you just ran X normaly with a fullscreen terminal on one monitor? Commented Dec 19, 2010 at 18:47
  • @ephemient: Full screen terminal is what I do most of the time. However, it doesn't handle the case where I've switched to a TTY to take care of some problem caused by my wonky hardware. The fact that I haven't been able to get the TTY on the screen I want constantly adds insult to injury when I'm trying to recover from a too-slugish-to-use gnome session.
