Sorry, but this is not what we're looking for. Were trying to not reboot here. (but it's what I did to get similar behaviour though - but it's not what the question is about).

@Paranoid great answer. I was looking into conditional boot with a file being used as a flag. But this is both simpler and cleaner.

@EduardoTrápani Originally it was just to save time. Now also out of curiosity. Also, Pourko wants to use it to update microcode (which would be lost on reboot).
