It's much more natural to rebuild it instead of upgrading critical components, like the bootloader or the kernel, which better be solidly read-only for a sensitive gateway. As for the UEFI "firmware," it is upgraded by the VM's host, as part of the hypervisor upgrade, and is immutable from inside a VM. | |
