Manpages are obscure but mention only non-numeric keys are passed to getpwnam(3). As an alternative solution, use getent passwd | grep '^username:' (from stackoverflow.com/q/35909572/1941654). Either way, we're just getting the passwd database and parsing for the home path. | |
