A comment from the vantage point of 2023. I feel that ! history searching is a skill rarely utilized today by shell newcommers. C-r searching is much more agile than ! searching. Also, fzf Ctrl+R binding makes it so much more powerful. But I am definitley adding shopt -s histverify to my .bashrc now. Thanks.
