- 2Well, users copy the period not because they are stupid, but because they slightly abuse the text selection tool. The same abuse will lead to quotes being accidentially copied.sharptooth– sharptooth2011-12-20 12:39:16 +00:00Commented Dec 20, 2011 at 12:39
- 1@sharptooth: If what you're concerned with is inaccurate selection, then your only option is to put a margin around the URL by putting it on its own line or just pad it with a space on either side. In some cases, it may be appropriate/preferable to also increase the font size for the URL. But I think if they're not stupid, they'll notice that they've copied an extra quotation mark.Lèse majesté– Lèse majesté2011-12-20 12:50:16 +00:00Commented Dec 20, 2011 at 12:50
- 6@Lèse Even if users notice the quotation mark, it's a nuisance, which is compounded on mobile devices where precision selection is more difficult.Patrick McElhaney– Patrick McElhaney2011-12-20 14:27:18 +00:00Commented Dec 20, 2011 at 14:27

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. website-design), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
