- Thanks @philip - I'll probably use add a success message right next to the Add Author button. The bigger problem is how to refresh the table and display the new record. What if the table flows off the bottom of the screen? Do I scroll to it and risk the user missing the success message? Is it reasonable to scroll the page to show the new record? What if the user wants to enter a few records one after the other?Dan Weaver– Dan Weaver2015-06-13 23:15:11 +00:00Commented Jun 13, 2015 at 23:15
- You could consider putting the "New Author" form into a modal. Then when they click "Add Author" you can close the modal and you won't have to worry about scrolling as the table will be the only thing on the page. Then as suggested, use the yellow fade technique to temporarily highlight the new record.Marcie Kaiser– Marcie Kaiser2015-06-15 17:25:06 +00:00Commented Jun 15, 2015 at 17:25
- It is not necessary to show the new record if it will be inserted on page 2+. If it's on the first page, use the yellow fade technique. If there are multiple authors, change the green success from "Author added successfully" to "2 authors added successfully" when the 2nd author is inserted.philip– philip2015-06-16 00:15:12 +00:00Commented Jun 16, 2015 at 0:15

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. website-design), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
