It sounds like you were looking for the Default mobile view setting, as described in our Setting the Calendar Default View. The feature is made available with the Events Calendar Pro add-on plugin.
While we strive to make the free version fully responsive (it adapts the month, list and day views to be mobile-friendly), we’ve reserved advanced display controls—like specific mobile view overrides—for the Pro version to help fund the ongoing development of the plugin.
We hope this clears up the confusion. We’d love the chance to earn back your trust.
You say “strive to make the free version fully responsive (it adapts the month, list and day views to be mobile-friendly)”. But apparently it’s not mobile friendly enough to be able to set the default view on mobile. Displaying a month view on such a tiny screen and resorting to dots on the days that there are events is dumb. Not looking to spend money on something as simple as this that should work out of the box.
