“A Book of Visual Signalwave” is the Vaporwave experience, feels and emotions found in Japanese television commercials from the years 1980 to 2001. The world of Signalwave and its music has always had a visual side. This book is a contribution to the music genre in a different way with a focus on a period of time, the commercials, tv, and cars.
This book is pure Signalwave for the eyes! With over 90 pages of commercials turned into comic book form. Each commercial should be viewed as an individual art piece that evokes emotional ties felt in Vaporwave.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI picked this book up based on the author's knowledge and information about signalwave (signalwave being an sub-genre of vaporwave) and their general knowledge about music as demonstrated through their blog, Musics the Hang Up. I had some reasonable expectations for the quality of this book, but the images are as high quality as you can probably get from the analog source, the paper feel is incredible and reminds me of silk, and has just the right amount of content for 100 pages to remain interesting without being overwhelming. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in vaporwave, signalwave or just analog TV in general.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThanks for this KITE0080! This is a great piece of art. Getting lost in the book while listening to the soundtrack was a transporting experience. My favorite section is a toss up between the car commercials and product commercials. Something about these two give me such a nostalgic feeling of being up late at night and channel surfing. Good work on this.

J.J. McCulloughReviewed in Canada on March 31, 20244.0 out of 5 stars A fun little artifact
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is a small, thin book of a bunch of interesting screengrabs from Japanese TV programs in the 1980s and 90s. They're often strange and very atmospheric. It is a window into another world.
I would have liked to see more text in the book, more descriptions of the images, or at the very least more of the author's reflections on why these images matter. The little text that was in the book I found fairly poorly-written, as if the author does not have English as his first language (which he may not, for all I know).
The book is also an Amazon print-on-demand title so the paper quality is fairly poor. That said, the pictures themselves are fairly low quality so higher quality paper would probably be somewhat jarring.
