At this price I don't know of any other controller that boasts hall effect sticks and high polling rate wireless connectivity. Using it with my steam game library has been effortless. The controller is also advertised as being compatible with android and Nintendo switch. I didn’t test android support, but switch support works very well. The C6 makes a very compelling replacement for the switch pro controller, considering how much those cost.
The first thing you will notice when you hold the C6 in your hand is how relatively light weight it is. At first this was a turn-off for me; I like heavier electronics because I think they feel more premium. Maybe the other manufacturers believe this too, because every other controller I own weighs noticeably more. However, after a while I began to appreciate its low weight. Sometimes after playing for a couple hours with heavier controllers, one may begin to notice the controller and rest it on his lap. That doesn’t really happen with this controller. That being said, the weight of a controller isn’t very important to me. My satisfaction wouldn’t change if the controller’s weight were comparable to other popular options.
The second thing you’ll notice when you pick up the controller is the feel of the buttons, sticks, and controllers. The face buttons are excellent; they’re membrane but they still give really tactile feedback when you push them. Lately game controllers that use mechanical switches for the face buttons have become popular. The feel of the C6’s membrane face buttons approximate the feel of switches as much as a membrane button can, while still retaining the silence of membrane buttons. Suffice it to say they’re not mushy at all. The shoulder buttons and analog triggers are on par with other common controllers. It should be mentioned that the analog triggers don’t have much travel. This really only impacts racing games: shallow analog trigger travel makes precise throttle and brake control difficult. For most other types of games short trigger travel is preferable. The analog sticks are good. The best part about them (the hall effect sensors) is hard to observe when the controller’s new, but I imagine that in a few years when my other hall effect-less controllers start to drift, the benefits of hall effect sensors will really speak for themselves.
The weakest part of the whole controller is the d-pad. It works fine in games, but the feedback as you rock the d-pad around with your thumb isn’t as clearly defined as other gamepads. It wasn’t a turn off for me but it should be noted. The controller’s rumble is really impressive, likely due to the controller's low weight. It’s more powerful than most other controllers I’ve used. Some might not like that level of rumble strength, but fortunately for them it can be lowered. I really like the satin textured finish of the controller. It provides good grip, and doesn’t feel slippery or sweaty after long sessions like the switch pro controller does.
To my knowledge, the abxylute C6 is the best gamepad at the $30 mark. I highly recommend it.
