FOSDEM Sees Surprise Pico Balloon Event
Hackaday
See publicationAt any vaguely-related conferences, groups of hackers sometimes come together to create an impact, and sometimes that impact is swinging something into an airspace of a neighboring country. [deadprogram] tells us that such a thing happened at FOSDEM, where a small group of hackers came together to assemble, program and launch a pico balloon they named TinyGlobo 1, which then flew all the way to France!

TinyGo Brings Go To Arduino
Hackaday
See publicationGo — a modern programming language with roots at Google — is one of the new generation languages that would like to unseat C (and C++) for what we think of as traditional programming. It is only for PCs, though, right? Not so fast! TinyGo provides a compiler that — in their words — is for small places. How small? They can target code for the Arduino Uno or the BBC micro:bit. It can also produce code for x86 or ARM Linux (both 32- and 64-bit) as well as WebAssembly.

Unlocking Drones With Go
Hackaday
See publicationThe drone is a DJI Tello, which has some impressive hardware like a 14-core Intel processor and excellent video processing abilities...The project is both an impressive feat in reverse engineering an inexpensive drone, and a fun example of programming in the Go language.

TinyGo
See projectTinyGo is a Go compiler for small places such as microcontrollers and WebAssembly. It uses the Go standard libraries connected to the LLVM toolchain to create executable files that are MUCH smaller than the normal Go binary executable.

GoCV - Computer Vision Library Using Go & OpenCV
See projectGoCV gives programmers who use the Go programming language access to the OpenCV 4+ computer vision library.
The GoCV package supports the latest releases of Go and OpenCV on Linux, OS X, and Windows. We intend to make the Go language a “first-class” client compatible with the latest developments in the OpenCV ecosystem.
GoCV also supports DNN, CUDA, OpenCV Contrib, and OpenVINO. -
